Hope Inspires Growth
Earlier this week, I received a 3 cube inspirational calendar that has different words on it that can be mixed and matched. Before opening the packaging, the very first combination I saw said “Hope Inspires Growth.” I was taken aback by this combination because it truly encompasses this time of year and the work we have done with MazelTogether.
First of all, I hope that you all have a very Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. Earlier today, I was in a meeting where an executive director brought up the fact that we have such a diverse community and that when we frame our messages and programs just around Chanukah or create programs on December 24th or 25th to “gather the Jewish community,” we are pushing away people who have their own traditions. As I wrote a couple of weeks ago, “we know that being Jewish today looks very different than it did 30 years ago (or even 10 years ago) and we know that people are going to identify with their Judaism in many different ways.”
I hope that MazelTogether is creating a community that welcomes and embraces the diversity and magic of the community. I hope that through the 120 gatherings that have taken place in the last 15 months that we have allowed for relationships to be fostered and for new leaders to grow.
I am inspired by the amazing people in our Boulder and Denver community. The many voices, beliefs, ideas, and relationships that have been created this year inspire me each and every day. To read the over 100 articles that have been published, see the work being done by our amazing MazelTogether team, and to read the reactions our hosts are having after hosting their events, I am more inspired about the future of the Boulder and Denver Jewish community. You have all shown me that one-size-fits is not the way that people connect in meaningful ways. Thanks for being an inspiration to all of us at MazelTogether.
MazelTogether has grown in more ways than I could ever have imagined. We are currently a team of five people, 725 people have registered for our website and we have touched over 2,000 people with our peer-to-peer programs. I also know that we can continue to grow in the way that we do things. I hope that you will hold us accountable and continue to make us grow in ways that support you and your visions for our Jewish community.
Hope Inspires Growth… This is now my 2018 motto for what we are doing at MazelTogether. I hope that we can inspire you to find ways to grow along your own Jewish journey and I hope that MazelTogether continues to grow and evolve to meet your needs.
